kids did something? eek!

A friend's kids got to playing around with the display settings on their new (to them) computer. Now the font is so extremely tiny that it can't be read. This should have been fairly easy to fix, but the tiny font means tiny display window that don't allow you to choose all the options. On top of that, I can't seem to get it to boot in safe mode.

The machine is running (this according to a sticker on the tower) XP home edition elite group. This is about all I can glean from the machine.

When starting and pressing F8 to bring up the boot menu, the choices I'm given are: floppy, usb...., IDE-0..., CDROM, BOOT->Network and NETWORK. None of these bring up the windows options menu.

What do I do next? Or, is there a better way to fix this problem?

In reply to: Tried System restore?

System restore would require me learning a new skill, but I'm up for pretty much anything at this point. But, if I can read the menu font how do I do a restore?

1. Right click on the Desktop.

2. Left click on Properties.

3. Left click on the Appearance tab.

4. Left click on the Advanced button.

5. Left click on the "Item" window.

6. In the menu that appears, left click on "Menu".
This will open the Menu options. Here you can adjust the Menu size and color, as well as the font face, size and color.

7. Then left click on OK, Apply, OK. It may be necessary to restart the computer for changes to take effect.

Hope this helps.
