Keyboard problems

by TrueIsis / February 24, 2005 2:30 PM PST

I am having keyboard issues on another computer I use. I don't know what happened but now when I use the keyboard on Word and outlook express, the letters that I type on the keyboard are not the letters that appear on the screen. The font still says new times roman, but its like I am using some kind of code that I can not break. Even some of the numbers I use are now replaced with letters. Please tell me what happened and how to fix this problem. Thank you

look in the Control panel for the keyboard applet. You may have somehow inadvertently changed it to something other than EN English United States (or whatever your own particular preferred locale happens to be).

*sigh* keyboard works fin w/ Notepad but not Word or OE
by TrueIsis / February 28, 2005 4:15 PM PST

Alas I have done that. The irony is it works fine with notepad. It is way off, however when I use word, outlook express or try to type a url. Strange little dickens it is. Could it be an operating system error? I have no clue where the disc is to reload windows, anywhere I can d/l it?

Not knowing where your Windows CD is located

is as big of a problem as the keyboard. You also need the product key number. Do you have that?

With the information available now, it doesn't seem a keyboard problem, but a font problem. That means your initial diagnosis was wrong.

I should suggest you reinstall ttf-fonts from your Windows CD (SFC might do the trick). If you don't have that around, find a place to burn them to CD, then go to Control Panel>Fonts.

Hope this helps.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
