Keyboard problems

by Linall9 / March 26, 2011 5:10 AM PDT

Since getting Windows 7 (I had XP), I've been having problems with typing in email, Internet chat, MS Word. The letters will sometimes jump backwards and be placed into another word. Example: Typing the sentence 'how are you today' ... it will type 'how aroe yu today' ... the 'o' in 'you' jumps back into the word 'are'. This happens frequently whether I try to type slow or not. I'm also hitting a key (maybe a combination of keys?) that opens up a menu that I don't want/need. Any suggestions? Thanks (This is whether I'm using Firefox, IE, or Chrome.)

yes... sorry I didn't put that in. It's a Dell Inspiron and I've had it for 4 years. No trouble with it. I don't use the touchpad.. have an external mouse. I was going to turn off the touchpad, but I couldn't find how to do that. I don't rest my hands on it so I really don't think the touchpad is the problem.

The mouse pad disable is on the keyboard between the F12 and Insert keys on the top row.

Don't feel bad if you find that. I've seen folk own machines for longer and they never discovered that key.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
