Keyboard not working while chkdsk continues to loop

hi people,

i would be so very grateful to anyone who can help me out with is problem,
im using windows xp, on a toshiba equium, celeron M 1.5GHz, 1.5GB RAM.

after getting rid of a win32.zafi.b virus, i took an extra step of performing a chkdsk. this instructed me to restart to perform the check, so i did......

while carrying out the check the computer restarted and the chkdsk started again, i found this confusing....
i restarted my laptop and tried to exit the chkdsk but my keyboard is not working...i cant exit this cycle of restarting and chkdsk....

i then inserted my toshiba product recovery, thinking i could return to a restore point, which i found out i wasnt able to do. i exited to DOS thinking i could start windows from DOS, which i then found out isnt easy like in win95, so im back at square one in this never ending loop, able to get to windows logo on but my bloody keyboard dont work.

is there anyway i can get the keyboard workin from DOS or get cancel the chkdsk or get to a restore point without access to windows?

any suggestions please??

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
