Keyboard Not Recognized on Start-up

Nov 29, 2004 4:06AM PST

Simple enough, The windows XP start-up runs then my number lock on the keyboard goes out. Then the keyboard dies. Anyone know how to fix this? Possibly without reformating if that even helps. The keyboard is a USB keyboard.

Thats y i like Linux. I never get these kinds of problems.

But if the keyboard has died, Linux wouldn't help you much anyway.

Can you try the keyboard in another computer? If it doesn't work there you know where the problem lies.

If it does, then possibly it is your USB port. Can you try anything else in the USB port, eg a mouse, and/or try the keyboard in another USB port on the same computer?
