"After upgrading from ME" From ME to what?

Are you using the PS/2 ports or USB?

Please take note of this tip that appeared when you posted your question:

"If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution."

Assuming that you are upgrading to one of the XP's since that's the only upgrade from ME and a wise choice at that (ME might have been the most unstable of all Microsoft's OS's). The OS is plug and play, so if you use USB it's going to show up the same as if you are using the PS/2 ports. So assuming you did use either one, then you have to figure out which mouse and keyboard you are using, go to their website and download the drivers. Of course, if you have the driver CD's then just put them into the CD-ROM or CD-R, if you have one, and the OS will pick the drivers up and both should work. Otherwise buy new ones. Actually, buying a new mouse (a five-button mouse, great to use, optical mouse from Microsoft is about $30 and a decent keyboard is about $20) and keyboard is probably the best choice. Spend a little money and do things right.
