Keyboard madness --

Feb 4, 2005 4:13AM PST

I am trying to connect a USB keyboard to a Toshiba Satelite 1415 notebook(about a year old), but am unable to get the computer to recognize it. The lights come on briefly during startup but then go out. I have tried an alternate manuf. keybaord to no avail. Could this be a conflict with the existing notebook keyboard? Using Windows XP home edition. Laptop has no PS2 connection. I have tried loading drivers from the install CD but it does not make any difference. Any help is much appreciated!

Bios...

I have other USB peripherals using the USB ports with no problems. Mouse, wireless USB network device. Is there still a possibility the BIOS is not correct?

The OS was installed at the factory.
