"pi 3540 keyboard spill

Postby bobbybob bobbybob » Sat Mar 07, 2009 11:15 am
hi

I`m having troubles typing on my amilo pi 3540 laptop after spilling accidentally a small quantity(about 1-2 ml) of face cleaning lotion on the right side of the keyboard. It was such a poor spill that I didn`t worried much.I didn`t even turn off the laptop.I dried the keys and the space beftween with a cloth.A couple of minutes after I`ve opened Word and Excel and I`ve begun typing to check if there was any problem with the keyboard...and it was.the letters typed on the keyboard didn`t match with that on the screen. I`ve turned off the laptop, I`ve took out the battery, pulled out the keys from the keyboard(those who I`ve thought it might be still wet and begun to dry the place with the hair dryer(not warm). after that I`ve .put the battery in place and checked if it was ok,but the problem was the same.I`ve took out the battery once again and let it upside down over night.this morning I`ve checked again, but the problem persists, instead of

x types xq
f types ft
c types c3
1 types a1
t types ft
n types nu
u types nu
j types ,j
p types .p
. types .p
and so on with some symbols.
the irony is that the producer says that the keyboard is spill proof (up to 50 ml)
I would be thankful if you advise me how to fix my problem."

I find the odds nearly astronomical that you would have the same issue as a person 6 years ago. It's a safe bet you bought that laptop from them and well, it's dead Jim.

And try an external keyboard.

Keyboard Issues

I bought the laptop new. When I was looking on the internet for a possible solution , I found that same post, only, I haven't spilled anything on my keyboard and that post didn't really help with the problem =/ It wa1s working .perfectly fine last night, but when I started it u.p today, it started with the keys

Trying the external keyboard would be a great clue.

Got a cat?

exfternua1l keyboa1rd

Nope. Just a dog, and I put it out oft her reach when I go to bed.

I currently don't have access to an external keyboa1rd, but I tried the on/screen one and it worked fine. I'll have to wait until I can get an external keyboard to try that.

New Developments:
<J = shift
; = right a1rrow
nor does pg down, end, pg up or home work, no matter if num lock is on or not

New = not your problem.

Time to let the maker fix it. Your failure is so incredible that it matched a failure almost letter by letter to something 6 years ago.

The warranty on it is expired.

"I bought the laptop new."

I have yet to buy a new laptop that warranty expired so quickly.

My bet is you have a longer story to tell such as "Oops you caught me copying a prior 2009 post and I really meant I bought it (new to me) used from a guy in the alley."

Your posting should be honest and original with full model numbers and more.
