If you had a HP keyboard, it may have come with s/w that better allows to access certain features. Items like internet hot key, or other programed hot keys. You need to either delete such a s/w install at the add/remove icon in the control panel. Once done any other kybd. may behave better. That's not to exclude any h/w failure or malware at work. If you have simple basic kybd. it should behave. those kybd. with options, etc. could have done you in or the s/w that allows it.
Hi all ~
I've read some old forum answers to my problem but found no solution. My keyboard works fine for periods of time and then just goes nuts ... it types in CAPS when the caps lock is OFF ... won't let you type numbers even when the num lock is ON, etc.
I followed someone's suggestion and found that there is only one keyboard in the Regional & Language Options. I replaced my old keyboard (thinking that was the problem) with a Logitech Elite LE and while that seemed for fix my problem, it was short-lived. I have a HP desktop and run Windows XP ... AVG FREE is installed and run daily.
Using RESTART does not help ... only a computer shut down will put things to right. Anyone have any ideas? Please, KISS as any instructions which are too technical will completely lose me.
Thanks to any and all who respond ... "y'all keep Grandma going"
PS for you young ones out there ... KISS stands for Keep It Simple Stupid (the stupid being ME)
