Question

keyboard. doesn't work

Hi guys! Need a little here; few weeks ago My psu dies, so I replaced it with a new one, but when I turned on My machine, I found out that nor the keyboard neighter the mouse worked, My first though was that the ps2 ports were dead but it happens that the keyboard does work when choosing safe mode, as well as if I press f8, but nothing beyond that, so I wonder, if ps2 ports are edad, is this supposed to happen? I don't think so. I changed the ps2 mouse for a usb and it's working, the ps2 mouse is also working in another pc. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
Back up one more step.

OK, so if Windows Safe Mode works (keyboard, etc.) and the BIOS works the keyboard isn't dead to me.

HOWEVER there are issues with malware and sometimes Logitech drivers (which I don't install) to cover.

I can't guess exactly what's up here but my first response is to boot Safe Mode and head to the Mouse and Keyboard areas of Device Manager to remove all mice and keyboards there. I'll not go into deep detail about how Windows adds them back in on the reboot.

Try that, reboot normally and hope that fixes this up.

I've should explain better

Thanks for answering, but I think You misunderstood My post, and that's all on me, so sorry. Ley me try to explain better, the keyboard doesn't work, nor in safe mode, neither in normal mode, I can not access BIOS settigns, which I do by pressing f2, but it doesn't work, also, I get this message from the bios:" keyboard interface error/press f1 to resume" So windows starts loading and if I press f8 i can access to booting options, I can select by using arrows, but then when entering the option I selected, keyboad does not respond. The lights in the keyboard do not turn on, My first though was that the ps/2 ports were/are dead, but if so, is it supposed to happen all I just explained? I hope I'd have made it clearer now Happy and sorry again for the misexplanation.

Thanks. That sounds like the old F1 (fuse) issue.

Google KEYBOARD FUSE BLOWN and you can see what it looks like on some million PCs. For a tech it's a trivial thing to fix but if you don't do this, the repair bill runs about the same as a new PC today.

thanks! it sounds like it

Thanks for the help! I think that might be the cause of the problem, I googled it and saw what is like the repairing procedure, not My thing to be honest lol well, I'll look into it and I'll try to fix it, but it seems like I'll be buying an USB keyboard. Thanks for your time!
