Keyboard Conundrum

Jan 20, 2005 6:30AM PST

I have an old Dell Inspiron 7000 and running Windows 2000 Pro. I plugged in a new PS2 Keyboard to work from lately. When I went to unplug the keyboard, my laptop keyboard keys were all messed up. Several keys were registering as different numbers/letters. I attempted the following to address the problem to no avail:

1. Shut down and restart computer with and without the external keyboard plugged in.

2. Change keyboard drivers to other available options which included PS2 83 key, 84 key, and 101/102 key.

3. Delete all keyboard drivers (but I couldn't do this) in hopes that upon restart, the computer would recognized only the laptop keyboard.

What else can I do so that my laptop keyboard runs correctly with the laptop??? I am now forced to use an external keyboard attachment.
