keyboard change on Nokia lumia 640xl

I am learning but slowly.
I had set the Nokia Lumia 640 XL to use English (UK) keyboard. After a day or so of playing with the device to learn more about it I ran into this issue.
The input keyboard is in Chinese.I do not know how it came about but it is there. I can not write anything for this language problem.
I have tried to get back to the English keyboard through settings.
It shows different keyboards, mostly in chinese, and then English UK and then English USA, it guides you to tap to change.which I have done a few times but nothing changes.
There must be something I am not doing to solve the problem !
Please help to get English UK, key board back on.
