Question

keyboard bug: holding a button bug (i think in registry)

Jul 21, 2016 10:40AM PDT

hello guys,

i recently used ccleaner to "repair" my registry. unfortunately is was so dumb that i didnt make a backup and afterwards deleted all system reset points...
so now, when i hold any button on my keyboard, it acts like i would press it like a hundred times in one second. this also means that when i play some game where i p.ex. move with the WASD keys, the character first moves normal for like 1 second, then he starts to stutter, so like the button would be pressed and released very fast.

i uninstalled the keyboard drivers, i restarted the system, i checked the registry with ccleaner and glary utilities, i tried another usb port, i checked that my mainboard drivers are up to date...

i also thought about if my keyboard would be broken, but i had that problem with my old keyboard, too... unfortunately then i thought it would be broken and bought a new one (ducky shine 3). the funny part is that the new keyboard then worked... as the bug happend straight after the ccleaner registry, i strongly suppose that its some problem in the registry.

has someone an idea how i might fix it?

OK, I have a few stock W10 machines.

That have undamaged registries. Can you reveal the key needed and I'll post the .reg contents so you can use those?

Remember I can't guess this. Only you or the registry cleaner knows this.

well...

i really dont know where to search and what to change... i thought maybe somebody here would know where i might find the registry entry for the performed action when holding a keyboard button...

is there maybe a possibility to fully remove the keyboard drivers and entries of the registry?

Sorry no.

The registry is custom and removal of a key can break more stuff. I can't guess what these tools damaged. I only know registry cleaning is good news for my friends in the PC repair business. I'm sure you get my drift here.

well... okay... i just wasted a whole day of my life with this... i cant get how i could be so dumb...!
i accidentially pressed fn + f8 and toggled my keyboard to "auto repeat x8" mode... it was no driver or registry or sth other stuff... it was a function... and it seems like the last time it was not my old keyboard but the same stuff with my acutal keyboard...

sorry for my dumbness, guys... but still thanks for the help!

Thanks for telling us the fix! That's a nice thing to do since others will now know this.
