General discussion

Kevin (taboma) & others complaining about locked threads etc

Jan 23, 2007 2:37AM PST

The moderators have my full permission to lock and unlock any discussion in the forums. They also have my permission to delete any post that they feel are disruptive or inappropriate (including the ones in this particular forum.) And I stand by their actions and trust their judgments --as their duties and responsibilities are to look out for the best interest of the forums and its members--to maintain its peace, helpfulness, and keeping this community a constructive environment.

Its tough being in a moderator role, they constantly have to live on a double edge sword because they are damned if they lock/delete a post and they're damned if they don't.

Sure once in awhile our moderators make mistakes, but don't forget they are humans just like you and me. Our volunteer moderator work there butts off to maintain the forums and the last thing I want to hear is the complaints against them. How about showing them some appreciation for once? I personally appreciate them everyday and CNET appreciates them. Their passion for this community has gone way beyond what is expect of them and I'm grateful for their dedication and efforts to ensure that this community grows so that all walks of life can enjoy being part of.

Complaining about moderators' actions and calling those individuals out needs to stop. If you don't like the policies that are set fourth in these forums or don't like the way things are run around here in order for us to do our jobs and maintain a friendly and helpful community, there are plenty of other forums out there that you can join and be part of. So if you want to continue beinge part of this community and contribute something constructive to it, we welcome you with open arms. But if you don't have anything positive to contribute, all you simply have to do is close your browser and walk away.

Thank you.

about the SE posters bitchin in this forum. In this case Taboma was taking the side against the SE complainers.

Your post was really needed, Lee, to support the Moderators. Great!!!!

Sorry Lee. I was just informed that Taboma was

one of thise complaining about the Mods.

My post was simply to voice my supporrt for your support of the Mods. They are humans and as such may err once in a while, but then it is always a marginal call and should simply be accepted by reasonable people.

Lee, or any other mod that would like to delete my posts, feel free. Sorry I portrayed Taboma in a light not intended by this writer.

Lee, read your message top to botton and back again.
After all, the bottom line to all whacked-out discussions on the CNET Forums should be on how the Advertisers look at it.

No one is happy to view conflicts within CNET Forums at all.
Specially the Advertisers.
I am in to advertising and know that.

Lee, read you loud and clear. I will be more careful with my posts.
Forgot about that bottom line you are responsible for.
Easy to miss that insight.

How easy to forget the larger picture when your overly zelous Mods, sometimes, do not allow even an inch of latitude.
Seems a growing area for all of us to be together in place of being at each others throats.

Lee, Good work on your part running CNET Forums.
You have to post more often.
I mentioned that on a recent post that was deleted or locked. Not sure which one that was. Lost track.
Way too many locked and deleted posts here and elsewhere on CNET lately.

Lee, Glad to have you back and in charge.
I like the CNET Forums. :
