Can you transfer pictures snapped with the 2mp camera to your computer or is it crippled just like every other locked phone and requires cingular's data service to transfer them?

No Bluetooth photo transfer
Jul 5, 2007 4:39AM PDT

Sadly, Apple and AT&T seem to have pulled a Verizon move on the iPhone. The Bluetooth only seem to work for voice calls.

Will Europe and Asia recieve a watered down version of the iphone, or it will have the same futures like AT&T visual voicemail?

Visual voice mail
Jul 5, 2007 4:40AM PDT

Visual voice mail is a big feature on the iPhone so I would be surprised if Apple eliminated it on versions sold in other countries. That may be why it's taking so long, as Apple need to find a carrier in other countries that will support the features.

GSM SIM Card
Jul 5, 2007 4:37AM PDT

No contracts have been signed yet but here in Switzerland it's reported that Swisscom is trying to negotiate a contract with Apple to be the sole iPhone carrier. How is that possible? Normally you insert a GSM SIM card into a cell phone which allows the device to connect to the carrier of your choice irrelevant of what make of cell phone you actually have. Do iPhones have some sort of GSM SIM card built into them which can't be swapped out..?

SIM card
Jul 5, 2007 4:45AM PDT

You can remove the iPhone's SIM card via a small drawer on the top end. But you can't use other AT&T SIM cards in the iPhone. That's troubling as swapping SIM cards between different handsets is one of the big advantages of GSM phones.

Photo quality
Jul 5, 2007 4:43AM PDT

It's pretty good, actually and quite comparable to other 2-megapixel cameras. Just remember the iPhone doesn't come with camera editing options. That's not a surprising move from Apple. Check out our iPhone camera photo gallery.

Will Apple look for a sole carrier in every country in the world?
Jul 5, 2007 4:44AM PDT

I was thinking by the time the iphone arrived in Europe, if would be offered in an ulocked version. Now that I see post here that carriers in Europe are signing deals to be the exclusive carriers, I wonder if the same thing will happen for every coutry in the world, including when the phone is released in Asia.

Larger text?
Jul 5, 2007 4:44AM PDT

I wear reading glasses. Can you make the text in the contacts application for example larger than default? With the large screen and a bigger font, I would assume that I could use iPhone without having to wear my glasses.

Text size
Jul 5, 2007 4:47AM PDT

The text size is pretty small and it can't be changed. You can use an onscreen "magnifying glass" to enlarge test you're highlighting but that's not really the same thing. Before buying, I would try it for yourself to make sure you can read it.

Canada
Jul 5, 2007 4:47AM PDT

Hello,

Is the iPhone likely in Canada? Most of our carriers use CDMA 3G where GSM is offered by only Rogers wireless. Also there is a lot of chat about ichat eventually making it's way into the iPhone, IS there enough bandwidth in even 3g to support this?

Rogers is the rumored carrier but we don't have confirmation yet.

You were wrong about photo transfers
Jul 5, 2007 4:49AM PDT

You told "The Big M" at 11:28am that he could not transfer his photos to his computer without using the data plan.
Aside from the fact that the data plan is included, and unlimited, the answer is also very wrong.
The iPhone syncs with iPhoto, making photo transfer incredibly simple both ways via the docking cable.
Please read the questions carefully, as you are providing wrong answers to very important questions.
