keeping old files

if i put win7 in can i keep all my files and program. or do i have to reinstall them.
i am using vista ultimate

Read our forum sticky

The second (red) paragraph in the first post says "yes, you will keep most of your files and applications". But, of course, that's only guaranteed for the final release that will be available from October 22. Any earlier version might not be so advanced.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
