time I try to boot up my MBP mid-2010 from install disk, I get the kernel panic message
saying I need to restart my computer by holding down the power button
and pressing it again. I completely formatted the hard drive that I
replaced the damaged one with so there is nothing on it. I used a drive
scrubber disk to do that and it took 2 hrs so I'm pretty sure it worked.
However, I still can't get my computer to start the installation. I
bought this computer from a friend and did not get the original software
with it so that has been a HUGE set back for me in trying to get it
functioning again. I got a copy of the snow leopard installation disk,
which I was able to load on different MBP that worked to view directions and had the option to install if I chose to do so. So I don't think there is anything wrong
with the install disk, but not certain. After reading troubleshooting on the apple
support site, I thought maybe I needed to reset the PRAM since I kept
getting the kernel panic message and once I did that I did get my sound
back. Unfortunately I am still getting the kernel message and not sure
what to do now....
