Re:kbrlo,exe WHAT DOES A RIGHT-CLICK "PROPERTIES" REVEAL?

Usually you get a tiny bit of info there, but new threats randomly name the trojan/virus/pest as well as re-encrypt on the host machine to run and hide.

In short, if you can't identify it, remove it.

In a longer responce, it could already have been removed since you can't find the .EXE (Windows search is NOT to be used, use a dos command-line!) and the residual run item is left.

Other Parasite removal programs.

http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6132-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=1313&start=0 notes the five scanning tools and removal tools that are fairly safe. If one does encounter an issue, its always been damage done by the MALWARE. The most common issue being Layered Service Provider replacement which you can use LSPFIX (Hint: use http://www.google.com to find).

The thread has follow on discussions about new links if you don't want to use Google to find an item.

Bob

PS. All the tools are free.

Maybe it's a hidden file? Set Explorer to show all hidden and system files and try again locating it Explorer (c:\windows\kbrlo.exe shouldn't be too difficult to find in the right pane, sorted alphabetically). Then simply rename it, and see what happens after reboot.

The DOS command would be:
dir c:\windows\kb*.exe
or (to see if it is hidden)
attrib c:\windows\kb*.exe

This will show all exe-files starting with kb.
