Can anyone tell me if Kazza is also illegal. I suspect it is but not really sure. Many thanks.

It's not, but what you obtain could be.

Ask yourself if you are ripping off someone. You can figure this out.

But beware the KAZAA is well known to have SPYWARE and is not offered on download.com

I regret to inform you that you paid for a service that's free, and worse, one that is mostly (over 90%) illegal. (If the media you download is copyrighted, it's illegal.) Have a look at this thread, and note the comments concerning Limewire Pro, which is the equivilent of Kazaa Gold.

Hope this helps,
John

So my only recourse is to contact my credit card company and try to stop the charge for this service????

It gave me adwares that had to be eliminated with SpyWare both in regular mode and safe mode a number of times. ADware has a nasty habit of trying to sneak back into your deeper system (System 32). Once you get rid of Kazaa (if you did, indeed, install it), do a Norton Anti-Virus scan, a SpyWare scan, then go into "safe mode" and do these again. Do this several times, then it should be OK. This takes time but is well worth it. To get into "safe mode", turn the computer off. When you turn it on, press F8 continuously til the screen asks questions. All icons and text will be much larger while in this mode. But do both scans anyway. Then restart your computer in regular mode. If you're unsure about this, take it to the local shop. It shouldn't cost more than $40 and they can also get rid of other things gunking up and slowing down your computer.
