The low light effect can be simulated by placing your hand over the lens (without touching the glass.)
I then can see how noisy the image gets and quickly decide which one might perform in subpar lighting better. Of course you may want said noise depending on your shoot.
I?m in a market for a hard drive camcorder and my budget is around $600. After reading Cnet?s reviews, I?m considering JVC GZ-MG 255/555 or Panasonic SDR-H188/200.
JVC GZ-MG 255 is rated 6.4, JVC GZ-MG 555 is rated 6.8, Panasonic SDR-H118 is rated 7.4, and Panasonic SDR-H200 has not been reviewed.
I went to Best Buy and saw all mentioned camcorders in person. From the point of view of ?look and feel?, I like JVC. However, my main concern is video quality.
From the Cnet?s reviews, it seems that JVC GZ-MG 555 has a better video quality (especially in low light) than JVC GZ-MG 255, but it is hard to understand if the video quality of Panasonic SDR-H118 is a lot better (if at all) than either of the JVC?s models.
Have you guys had an opportunity to play around with any of these? I would appreciate your input.
