can some one help me I have a problem finding/Using the lock buttomas (you will guess its my first camcorder) where I believe according to the small manual it should be near the hand strap on riht side all I can see there is like a small cover for something as to if its a pressure button or if the cover has to be remove I am uncertain.
The other problem is which button starts and stops recording.
I have managed to run the demostration film with the sound but not the recording any help will be gretly appreciated. I have the Manual but its badly printed and so small my eyesight is so poor unable to read it Cheers travelman.

I was able to download a manual for the JVC GR-FXM41 /GR-FX17. The record start/stop button appears to be oval, and immediately above the rear of the strap. Usually this type switch is spring loaded, and you slide it down to start/stop recording. I would recommend going to JVC and dowmloading the manual. You can magnify the page so that all is clear. Hope this helps.

BTW, when posting, you might indicate which country you are in as models vary from region to region; I figured the UK from cheers in your closing. Wink

Many thanks for your reply Ray I have checked for the Lock button again and there is no oval button above the strap apart from the Mode switch and the on/off switch that rotates there is a oblong cover below the strap at bottom of camera that does not slide either way or seem to depress I am just going to look at the link you gave me perhaps there is more clues there by the Way I reside in North Shropshire UK will let you know of any results.
Cheers
