JVC GR-DVF10 Pro setting problem

Jul 27, 2006 7:05PM PDT

Greetings from sunny Belgium

We have a JVC GR-DVF10 Camcorder in our possession for about 6 years now but to be honest it was a impulse buy, I only used it about a dozen times since then and the last time was over a year ago (actually my daughter did).

Last week I took it out of the bag again to use it in an upcoming marriage but stumbled on a problem.

The camcorder has 2 settings; Auto and Pro.

In the Auto setting everything works fine, the (red) recording button works smooth and direct to the touch.

But ... when I switch to Pro setting (which is the preferred setting due to its fading settings etc) it is virtually impossible to start the camcorder, the record button does not respond. Ok, this is not 100% correct, it does respond, but only after you fiscally put your weight on your thumb (in other words, you really need to press very hard on it (almost to breaking point).

Can anyone plz explain this to me?? Is there a way to soften it (unblocking it?) I tried to contact JVC Belgium but they where no help. And I went to store and he looked at it and simply said, don?t bother buy a new one (estimate to ?look? at it:
