Hi,
I work for JVC and would like to try and help.
Regarding aspect ratio. Sometimes You Tube does not correctly identify the type of video you have. It thinks you have a 4:3 video, and instead you really have a 16:9. You want it to play 16:9, not squeezed together as 4:3. You can quickly fix this by doing the following:
1. Sign into your YouTube account.
2. Click your username located in the top right-hand corner of the YouTube homepage. A drop-down menu will appear; click My Videos.
3. Click the Edit button below the video you wish to add formatting tags to.
4. Type one of the following tags into the Tags section on the left:
* Tag: yt:stretch=16:9
(fixes anamorphic content by scaling to 16:9)
You can also solve this automatically if you upload your video using the CD-ROM software that JVC includes with your camcorder.
Regarding picture adjustment, I assume you are referring to adjustments to the recording quality. Your camcorder can operate in Full Auto, or Manual mode. When you switch to Manual mode you have access to brightness (exposure), white balance (which is similar to the color tone), focus, metering area, other effects, and more.
I hope this helps.

Okay, I have this video camera that I got as a replacement to the other kind that did not connect to my computer. So far, I like this video camera, but I do have one issue...
I searched and searched everywhere on the menu and options, but I can not find where I can adjust the brightness, contrast, color tones, and all those settings. The closest option that I can find is the brightness for the monitor screen.
Can someone please help me with this? I will be in total shock if this camera do not have it...as compared to my Samsung Exclaim having these options.
One side question, can someone explain the aspect ratio? There are two options with this video camera, 16:9 and 4:3. During my first time recording, it was set at 16:9 and I assumed it to be widescreen. However, after uploading the video to YouTube, it appear that the system shrunk the width of the video. It is showing a bit weird, in this example, I videoed the 100 gallon tank (5 foot long), but YouTube made it look shorter. It was not that way in preview on my computer. To clarify, YouTube shrunk the width, which black bars show on the sides, but kept the top to bottom intact. How is it that I see some videos people upload keeping their aspect ratio intact, but mine got screwed? And I assumed that 4:3 is standard size, since the monitor screen on the video camera switched to block view.
Thanks for the assistance and answering these questions.
