Quite the reverse, he was clearly hoping that nothing worse would happen. Just because you can attribute things to people that they don't feel and don't think and don't want is the kind of Karl Rove tactic that we should all do away with, especially here.
You ask anybody in Canada if they want more or less casualties in Iraq, and they'll say less. You ask Canadians who they would rather see hurt or blown up, and after you get the answer Nobody, they will probably if reluctantly say Zarqawi and all the other Jihadists. Nobody here wants Americans to die, or to be hurt or to suffer in that hateful land and tough nasty climate, and it would be nice if you would refrain from publishing lies like that.
Canada may occasionally disagree with US choices, and occasionally chooses not to follow the US's lead just as any sovereign nation is entitled to do, but they (we) don't want to see Americans hurt. You are Canada's best friend, and vice versa, if you can't see that, new glasses, and maybe a long visit up here are in order. If you just try to solicit opinion instead of pick a fight, you'll find Canada about 90% behind you in everything but troops in Iraq.

Besides Mark, we've got some neat snakes, even a couple of "hots" like Copperheads and Massassagua Rattlers which are kind of chubby and short, and are maybe the least aggressive pit viper you can imagine. Personally I like the little ones like the Red Bellied and the Emerald snake, both of which I've seen, and Water snakes which are aggressive but harmless. They can't even break the skin, for which I'm grateful. No Cottonmouths I don't think, too cold.
