Just swap the SIM? New GSM Phone.

I have a Motorola SLVR L7 that I got through Cingular, but I have always had a brick phone, and the one flip phone that I've really liked (the PEBL) doesn't seem to be moving onto Cingular. Also, I am finding that I don't get as much use out of iTunes on my phone, compared to just using my iPod. So here's my question:
I got an Unlocked PEBL on ebay, and originally believed it would be as simple as just sticking my SIM card from my SLVR into the new, unlocked PEBL. But after reading about SIM Pin's and screwing up Sim Cards (which I have done on accident before) I wasn't so sure. What will the steps/procedure be for me to get my PEBL up and running?
