General discussion

Jun 26, 2007 8:43AM PDT

I know this is by choice but I just wonder what others are doing.I used to have 512 mbs of ram and it was set at 756mbs.I got that off tweakxp (I think)I burn alot of videos, dvd's,change from mepg2 to avi
and stuff like that.I was running out of memory sometimes.I would like to know what others think? I tried getting rid of some services through BlackViper site but some of his stuff just isn't right for a media center 2005 pc,xp pro. Most was though. Thanks

Mark

Just let Windows handle it

There's so little to gain from trying to control it yourself, it's just not worth the effort.

1.5

The default is 1.5 times your physical RAM. You can set this manually, but I usually just leave it up to Windows. If you are frequently running out of virtual memory, then you apparently don't have enough RAM to run everything you're running now. If you add more, Windows will automatically adjust the pagefile. It will also help to speed things up in general, since your RAM is faster than your hard drive.
