Just Got New Laptop - Miss My Old One

Aug 15, 2015 4:01PM PDT

When I was in high school my school required that I get a macbook, so I have an old 2010 macbook with a terrible battery. This year for college my parents bought me a new ASUS X550JX-DB71. I picked this computer because I could get it at a good price and it seemed like a great computer for gaming, something my old mac sucked at. After having it for about a week, I realize I really just miss my mac. I'm not used to windows and everything seems so complicated and foreign to me, and there are a ton of really small things about windows that make me like OSX more. I did some research and I found out I can replace the battery in my old mac for about $120.

My questions are:

1) Is windows something that will grow on me? I know I haven't given it much time. Has anyone else been a long time mac user and switched to a windows pc?

2) Would using my windows solely for gaming and my mac for web browsing/miscellaneous stuff be a reasonable thing to do? Do many people have laptops dedicated only for gaming? How long could I expect my ASUS to be a decent gaming machine?

I just feel guilty because my parents spent all of this money on my computer and I am tempted to just use my old one!

Thanks for any advice/comments

If I did that we would have to spend quite a bit more, maybe even up to $1000 more to get a comparable machine. I wish macs weren't so expensive haha. I like the idea of having a good PC for gaming, something I wouldn't get with a mac. I guess I am starting to answer my own questions...

If you like the Mac and it's just a battery issue than replace it.
I'd use the Asus as is and use it as a whatever you want computer but,
Keep It Original, Maybe get used to Windows and have the Best Of Both Worlds.
