Just got a new computer, with Vista.

Well as I think is obvious from the title, I just got a new computer last week with Vista.

This is my first ever time using Vista and it's driving me crazy.

It keeps telling me I don't have the required access to do ... anything really. I can't even open a game as it says I don't have the required access.

My download speed compared to my old computer has been SLASHED. I don't think this is Vista but still, it's gone from 5megs/sec to about 100kb/sec.

Another problem is that the programs seem to go not responding far far too much mainly when multi tasking. However, the computer has 3gb RAM and a quad core Q6600 Processor, so I am fairly sure this shouldn't happen either..

If anyone can provide any answers to any of these problems I would be very grateful.

Chris.

Just returning it as defective? Some do then go get a machine with XP.

Well I was planning to take it back as defective if it is that the computer is just broken.

But not knowing .. a large amount about them I thought best to ask before rushing to pack it up and take it back.

Given so little to work with...

It sounds defective. Or maybe just not ready to be used. I can't count the times the makers want us to reload the OS, get drivers etc.

Sorry, they need to make a nice toaster that works when we unpack it.
