Just bought a new lap top...

Feb 26, 2005 1:13AM PST

I just bought a Dell inspiron 1000, and im playing around with it. The only thing (so far) that I can't figure out is how to turn of silent mode, or sleep mode, whatever. Whenever I close the screen i have to like turn it back on again (though as you probably know it just turns back on to the user sign in list) it's very annoying. Because also, when it goes into this mode, it disconects my internet connection. (yes i am still stuck in dial up land. Ty would love help! I'm hlaf computer illiterate

XP has a setting to do that or just resume. I can't remember exactly where the setting is, but you'll find it.

Hi,
In the control panel, look for power options. There in the advanded tab, you should find an option that says something like "when I close the computer lid", choose the "do nothing" option. I am assuming that's what you want.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
