Just Boot Darn It

Feb 12, 2015 1:41AM PST

I have a new computer running Windows 7. When I boot windows I am given a choice to either click a box titled 'all users" or a box named "Richard." I am Richard. When I click Richard, I get the Windows I want. But is there a way the computer will just boot to Windows without me having to click anything? Thanks.

Go into Control Panel and click on User Accounts and Manage another account

Try It This Way...

First, if you have a password set for your user names, it's actually BEST to continue to use the method for logging in that you already have. It's safer and more secure.

On the other hand, if you are the only user of the machine, then you might try allowing the machine to simply boot to Windows like this: Click on the Start button, then in the "Search programs and files" box at the bottom, type "Run". At the top of the search window, click on the "Run" under "Programs". When the Run line opens, type: "CONTROL userpasswords2", without the quotes, then click on OK. When the "User Accounts" box loads, UNCHECK the box that says: "Users must use a user name and password to use this computer", then click on Apply, then OK. You'll see a box that allows you to set the "Richard" username and its password to automatically load at startup. Restart the computer and it should load to your "Richard" user name.

Hope this helps.
