General discussion

Just an FYI

All moderators see your CNet registered email when you hit the modalert now. Glad I didn't switch my registration email when I was considering doing so.

You have no worries then.

This is a change with the new software

In reply to: when you hit the modalert

Previously we've been told that the moderators no longer saw our email addresses. Just letting people know.

Since we had all been (repeatedly) asked....

In reply to: when you hit the modalert

...not to use the modalert but rather to e-mail the mods at the semods address, this should be a non-issue for us, right?

tsk tsk tsk... Josh, please refrain

from stating the obvious...

in accordance with demands by certain SE members for "consistency" your post might offend those who are "obviously challenged"

I prefer to work within the CNet system

In reply to: tsk tsk tsk... Josh, please refrain

It gets results.

It was a request ...

In reply to: Since we had all been (repeatedly) asked....

... not a demand, remember? Every time I use the modalert (which has been more frequent the past few days but really is not often) I see a message thanking me for my assistance in maintaining the CNet forums.

I prefer to use the offensive post button. It is there for a reason. It gets results. Given the SEMods inability to police themselves, surely you can see the futility in reporting their offensive posts to them?!

excuse me? "gets results"

In reply to: It was a request ...

"I see a message thanking me for my assistance in maintaining the CNet forums"

is that what you want? a note of thanks....

Nope ...

In reply to: excuse me? "gets results"

... it's more that I get results.

Do you honestly think that Lee reads all of the emails you cc to him? If I have a problem with a post by a CNet moderator, I want that alert to go to Lee and TPTB.

I would alert you guys on posts by other members if you guys would do one simple thing so that such communications go through the CNet system. They would still end up in the same place you are requesting the alerts be sent. It's your perogative not to do that, but it's mine to then use the system CNet has in place. As you would say, sorry for the inconvenience.

And you wonder why

For most of us it is

a non-issue. Most of us know how to write an email. Others don't or else must have something in their back pocket...

That's good

In reply to: Just an FYI

Since my email used at CNET has a form of my name in it, they can be sure it's me.

I can go sign up for a free email address ...

... JamesDenison@anynumberoffreeplaces.com. Not that I would want to, but cool huh?

When things were switched to CNet some of the moderators' privileges were cut back to prevent some abuses from the past. Seems some of that has been changed again without letting us know. It's not a really big issue for me, but I'm glad I didn't switch my registration email is all.
