I always said my father-in-law had a built-in hearing aid that he could turn off at will. Many times I saw him looking as if he was listening to his wife, but his mind was somewhere else. Also, he could fall asleep at the drop of a hat.

I have a friend whose speech pattern was like a machine gun. She could give you a week's worth of news in 1 1/2 minutes flat. Then I stop and remember that she talked when her husband indicated it was OK. Happy

Was it a long conversation Glenda? My father when he was alive had to wear a hearing aid. Everytime my Mother got going with a conversation with him, you would see his right hand raise up to his ear. (thought he was scratching the ear) Asked my dad: What are you doing. his reply: Shutting off the static my son. Happy

It might have turned into a long conversationHappy I will never know now!
My Dad used to pull that with his hearing aid too! I refused to yell like everyone else did, I made him turn the darned thing up!
