General discussion

Just a small question

For web development which is better, C or Perl?

I think it's Perl but I'm not sure.

Thanks for your input.

Definitely PERL. Or quite a few others, like PHP or ASP.NET or JSP and more.

C isn't used for web development at all. In fact, C is hardly used at all anymore. Where did you get the impression that it would be suitable?

Haha just because I can't decide between C or Perl. I want to do Internet-related scripts so I guess my best chances are in cgi/perl. C in my case wouldn't be too bad cuz I use *nix and C is the default programming language in it.

Thanks,

For CGI, perl.

It's very wide spread but I'll show my hand here and reveal I'm on a development involving Visual Studio 2008 and a .NET 3.5 application. Given that we could use ANY of the languages that are in VS2008. That would mean that the CLR (read from http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=%22Common+Language+Runtime%22 ) which in this case is .NET we would have to have such on the web server.

But why do that is a very long discussion.

Let's just use PERL and move on.

Why do choose betwee C and Perl?

The most popular languages are PHP and ASP.NET I think.

Because Perl is really good and flexible.

Not saying that the other aren't, but Perl is just amazing! And I like programming it, that's why I chose Perl.
