General discussion

Just a few points here

Nov 12, 2007 6:08AM PST

Recently I had a post removed. I wasn't sure it would be acceptable from the start but listed it anyway. So, I'm not disappointed to see it go.

I would like to say that yes Cnet does provide software here both for "free" and "for pay" but It does not provide "for pay" software for free, like the site I presented. My intent here was to get Cnet members NEW software for free. Something they would appreciate or that's the way I see it. I'm not being argumentative here, just presenting a point.

So I know exactly which site you're talking about, and have used it myself several times in the past. Personally, I'd love to have a section where we could share sites such as that one, benefiting all who come here, but then you run into the matter of 'is it advertising?' Your contributions thus far show it wasn't spam, and while I like to give some leeway in the grey area it's still technically a competing service to download.com without being a reply to a posted question. Thus, I certainly agree with your points but can't disagree with the pull either.

I wasn't really sure how that one would go when I put it on. I thought I'd give it a shot and see what would happen. As you said it was not intended to be spam just some freebies for the members.
