General discussion

Just a blanket statement. I think that perhaps asking

questions about what people think will get me into less trouble than offering my own opinions (which I will continue to do). I've been away from the States for 29 years now and however close my relations with my relatives, its not like living there. I know what I see on TV, or read in the newspapers, though that part is usually confined to the Sunday New York Times because buying daily US papers here involves a daily trip downtown and, of course, paying a premium for air freight. There are only a half dozen bookstores here who stock daily US papers like The NYT, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and the New York Post (God help us). That's not a complete list, you can usually find the Christian Science Monitor, which is a really good even handed newspaper, and others.
