Juno Dial Up Internet Service

Nov 27, 2006 11:18AM PST

warning to anyone tempted to try Juno Internet--the disk states $4.97 per month for 3 months. I installed Juno and tried to use it for one month. The service is terrible, VERY SLOW, and the line is disconected every 15 minutes or so, requiring a redial.

When I called to cancel I complained about the disconnection and was told to just keep redialing. Also was told that I agreed to a 3-month contract and I would be charged $25 cancellation fee if I cancelled before 3 months.

when people try to get the cheapest service, and then are unhappy when they get shafted or it doesn't work.

IMHO.

Get a real ISP.

Juno experience

Consumer Reports magazine rated JUNO as the best ISP.

I tried Juno for two days after signing up for the 3 month trial and cancelled today. The nice (East Indian ?) lady on the cancellation line tried to get me to stay with Juno at a reduced price but I finally convinced her that I really wanted to cancel. She said the charge on my credit card would be $4.97 unless I misunderstood her.

The JUNO recommended email is webmail but using Outlook Express was just barely ok. JUNO uses a proprietary network connection and clicking on the Outlook Express shortcut frequently created an error. Changing the Network Connection for Juno to what I thought it should be made the Outlook Express shortcut work fine but then there was an error when going to JUNO on the web. JUNO support explained all of this but it was a little odd. Starting JUNO made the network connection revert back to the JUNO setting.

The connection speed was great here in the Denver metro area.

About half of the "buttons" on the JUNO toolbar wouldn't work and the tech support reply was to uninstall, download the software again, and reinstall...how many times have I heard that!

Anyway, I never quit Earthlink and am back to that. It isn't perfect but it is sure better than JUNO even though it costs more than twice as much.

That is funny to me you paid for juno and get disconnected.
Ive been using my same old free juno account for 8 years and i havent had any problems with Juno disconnecting me unless ive been online for anywhere from 3 to 4 hrs straight.

Come to think of it i even found a great exploit in it and from this exploit i get basicly all the benefits of a paid account for free (unlimited hours, no ads, no popups, no annoyinger then hell toolbar on the top of my display)

ryuhi me to, however sometimes it can a problem - I had to chose diff. Gateways to get a good connection and sometimes it cuts out - happening recently - a bit earlier REAL BAD... Sad I do hope they pick back up and oh I'm using copper.nets dns servers. So far so good. Netzero tho its' partner blocked it tho.

yes the gateways are 209.247.21.0 - 209.247.21.255 and any should work. .333 sucks tho. I am now going one by one up from 0 - at the time of this writing it was .4 i think.

"Consumer Reports magazine rated JUNO as the best ISP."

Not exactly - The best "DIAL-UP" ISP, but their survey mostly concentrated on the faster services

Yeah, I saw that. Kinda reduces their credibility, doesn't it?
To be fair, I saw it in the online version, and they really didn't have very many respondants. Plus, they insisted on treating Juno seperately from Netzero, when they're the same thing except for the name (both United Online)
