General discussion

JPEG, TIFF, RAW clarification

Dec 20, 2004 2:15AM PST

Hi,

Can I produce high quality photos (for web and 5" x 7" prints)using jpegs or should I get a camera that shoots in Tiff and Raw modes also?

I already bought the Canon A85 but want to be sure I've chosen wisely.

If not the Canon A85 then what camera would you recommend that shoots in all 3 modes?

Thanks

TIFF and RAW

There are only about 10 cameras that have both TIFF and RAW. Priced between $500 and $999.

For 5x7 and web, you do not need TIFF or RAW.

Most digital cameras will let you select one of three different JPG quality settings. For the best quality, select the one that produces the largest JPG files.
