Jordans / JTJ Online Store OK??

Jun 1, 2006 6:31AM PDT

I Froogled for a new RAZR v3I phone, and found this web site (http://shop.1asecure.com/index.cfm?stid=5316 ) for a store called Jordans, which professes to be a volume dealer that also sells to the public. Their prices is MUCH cheaper than anywhere else. Too good to be true? Does anybody have any experience with them? I want to check before writing a check!
Thanks.

pretty much accepted it
Jun 25, 2006 9:52AM PDT

My mom and I have pretty much accepted we were ripped off.

I did file a report with the BBB in New York though.

I am more upset for the people who spent more than I did. I mean $239.00 is a lot, don't get me wrong but so is $800, $500, and such.

I remember the 2nd email I received from them and it seemed fishy to me. It was a typo in the subject line but I figured, "Well, they're a small company and whoever did it was just typing too fast. No big deal." ::sigh::

We should have just canceled our check right then.

We need to move on and learn from this.....
Jun 26, 2006 6:22AM PDT

I am in the same boat as a lot of the people are in this forum. I made an order a few weeks ago and have not heard from them since. I sent in one inquiry that was replied to but I suspect that was to keep me from cancelling my check. We do need to make sure that others are not duked like we were. I think that the people who have posted that they have received their orders are also in on this scam. There is no way that anyone could have actually received an item from this fraudulent company; PERIOD!!!!

Got the same email from "cheryl"
Jun 28, 2006 2:19AM PDT

I suspect they are just buying time to get out of town. I spoke to the storage company that hosts the PO box and she told me this guy gave the box to somebody else and closed his account.

I doubt there is a "sheryl" or a "kyle". THere is one sharp kid probably who figured out a scam hot to rip people off.

Notice they never return your calls, and you get canned emails? They have stopped replying to my emails altogether, as my tone has been very matter of fact and threatening. We're going to need multiple people to call the computer crime line to get this guy investigated and thrown in jail.

a few places to report this scam
Jun 26, 2006 9:21AM PDT

I was scammed by these guys as well. Here are a few places I plan to report them to. I encourage others to do the same, since the authorities are more likely to go after these guys if they establish a pattern. (Including the URL to this thread in any complaints might also help.)

1. Better Business Bureau metro NY
http://www.newyork.bbb.org/home2.aspx

2. Federal Trade Commission Consumer Complaint form
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=

3. FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (develops and refers complaints to local, state, and national law enforcement level as appropriate)
http://www.ic3.gov/

I would still be interested in the police report contact info. as well.

Thanks. Best to all.

All those things are good, but not as good as the police/FBI
Jun 26, 2006 10:27AM PDT

This is not my first bout with internet fraud. Your (our) best bet is to contact the Long Island City police department, so they can move fast on this thief before he/they disappear. He had to show proof of ID to get the mailbox, and to endorse the checks (one would hope).

I don't think there is a "business" to speak of. I think it's all hoey. This is one or two guys ripping people off, so BBB, etc. isn't really going to do a lot of good.

Folks, look - I'm buying a house right now. Can someone else take the lead on establishing a case with the proper authorities in Long Island City and post the contact info for everyone else? Thanks.

JUST called
Jun 30, 2006 12:28AM PDT

It's more of a jurisdictional thing. We'd all have to contact our local police and they would get in touch with the New York authorities.
My mom is going to call our local police some time today when she gets time and report it to them.

Let me know how it all goes for the rest of you.
Hopefully we can get our money back and if not that, maybe this guy or group of people can get thrown into prison.

I just talked to the NYPD
Jun 30, 2006 1:29AM PDT

I called the NYPD number (646-610-5397) provided earlier. I talked to an officer John Ruiz, whose email is jr@ccsnypd.org . He and I didn't discuss this, but it might help if you emailed him your story so there is one contact point. He also said I need to contact my local authorities, and the FBI (he told me IFCCFBI.gov is their website) due to the multi-jurisdictional nature. The FBI acts as a clearing house in cases like this.

I got my money back plus my stop payment fee
Jun 30, 2006 4:26PM PDT

I just received a certified check for the price of two moto razr phones plus $25.00 to pay for my bank's stop-payment charge. The check I received says "JTJ Online" and is signed by J Kaufman - The bank is Washington Mutual and the bank's address is 1760 Market St, Philadelphia, 19103. The company address for JTJ Online is 51 N 3RD ST PHILADELPHIA, PA 19106. The New York address was a temporary warehouse service of some sort that was forwarding mail to Philadelphia. I did tons of searches, and finally sent an email threatening to sue for false advertisement - IN THE SUBJECT LINE I PUT: LEGAL NOTICE. Five days later got my money. Apparently this is not a scam but, rather, just a poor business operation. They accept only mail orders because Visa and MC don't allow them to operate using credit cards because they accept the money before they ship the order. It goes like this: they get a hundred orders and then buy in quantity. But their sales in June were down and so they are continuing to DELAY in order to reach enough orders so they can buy and make a profit. It's not illegal, but it is against certain regulations. My recommendation: Threaten to sue, and be firm. Hope this helps.

new on website and questionable check cashing method
Jul 7, 2006 4:06AM PDT

My order on 6/8/06 was said to have shipped 6/19/06.

I still have no product, and they've not responded to my emails. I'm not in panic-mode yet but I'm concerned.

Here's what I see now...

1) New cancellation message - Their website says that all orders after June 1, 2006 are cancelled. They were not able to meet some order amount or something. It says refunds will be sent within 30 days of this notice which is posted 6/30/06.

It worries me b/c it allows so much time.

2) Check cashing - The person "Jordan" added their last name to the Pay To The Order Of line on my check and then cashed it. I have a photocopy of the check to prove this... with his/her signature on the back and their bank account number.

If anyone has any other information, please keep posting. I think if it's legit and they're refunding people, we should know to rest easy. If it's a scam, I'm not beyond finding this person and doing whatever it takes to get my money back.

Jordon JTJ Issue
Jul 8, 2006 1:14PM PDT

We ordered a cell phone in early June and received the same vague messages everyone else is getting. I noticed their shopping cart account is canceled today. I didn't look at this yesterday. I did see the message about refunds yesterday.

The New York Attorney General, Eliot Spitzer, has a internet fraud division. If you Google ATTORNEY GENERAL OF NEW YORK there is a specific form to complete for internet complaints. I would suggest printing that out and begin filling it in and get it in the mail. If several of us send this in he will be more likely to take action than if he only gets one or two complaints. If the place is ligitimate we should get our money. If not we at least have taken another avenue to find resolution to the problem.

Is anybody in the Philadelphia/Long Island City area ?
Jul 10, 2006 12:26AM PDT

We need somebody in Philadelphia/Long Island City to initiate legal/civil actions against this individual, since that is where the fraud took place. I was told refunds would .."be going out July 3rd", and guess what, no refund still.

I don't like what I'm seeing , or what I'm hearing so far, and I'm skeptical I'll ever see my money. That said, I do plan to persue Mr. Kaufman to the fullest extent of the law, expecially since we have his name, bank, and address information. The key to success is to initiate legal actions NOW as opposed to the bogus "..30 days from June 30th" that the website says. This guy could be long gone by then.

Face it folks - we are either being ripped off now, or very close to it. July 30th gives this guy way too much time.

Too much time passed
Jul 16, 2006 11:31AM PDT

I ordered a RAZR V3i phone back on 6/14/06, and am still awaiting my promised refund on this purchase. It looks like I have received all the same emails that the rest of you have regarding this, and it looks like we all, in fact, have been scammed. I have sent one final email to JTJ requesting specifics regarding my refund progress, and if I have not received an adequate response by Wednesday, I plan to report all of this to the proper authorities. I encourage everyone to do the same. Good luck, and be sure to post any additional info you guys find out along the way!

Don't Wait
Jul 17, 2006 1:18AM PDT

I recommend that no one should wait for anything any more time , we will not receive anything form this jordans. i myself had sent many emails asking about my refund and i didn't get any reply. I doubt that anyone has received any refund.

PLEASE PEOPLE TAKE ACTION.

Are You People Kidding Me???....
Jul 17, 2006 3:56AM PDT

...You send someone what amounts to cash.

You sendd it to an internet place with essentially no physical address.

Their contact number has a 718 area code meaning it's in Brooklyn or Queens and is definitely in NYC.

Everyone knows you NEVER, EVER buy from any mail order place in NYC unless it's one of the few known reputable places.

All because you're chasing a price that you know damn well is way too good to be true.

And you have the audacity to express outrage that you were ripped off???

Didn't your mom ever tell you guys the one about "if it's too good to be true it probably is?"

Yeah these places are a disgrace and should all be shut down with their proprieters thrown in jail but c'mon now, you can't really be too surprised something like this happened to you.

You fell for the oldest scam in the book guys.

Consider it an expensive life lesson.

Agree, do not wait. Time for action is now
Jul 17, 2006 4:40AM PDT

The wheels of justice turn slowly. You can always rescind your complaint should you get paid. Was told refunds would "go out July 3rd". Haven't seen anything.
