I really enjoyed Portal, and finally got my cake!
It's an innovative and entertaining way to work physics puzzles, which was one of my favorite parts of HL2. After running through the standard "chambers," I can now go back and hear the game developer's comments and do the bonus levels. The editors of Maximum PC say Portal is the best part of Orange Box, although I've just started HL2 Ep2 today and can't comment on it yet.
I can't believe there are so many YouTube videos demonstrating the fastest way through the chambers and the end credits. Now I can't get that damn song out of my head (and why is it I can't turn off those clock radios?)
Nice production Valve, it's off to squishing more grubs...
First time poster (I think) and I just had to comment on the Jonathan Coulton plug in episode 581.
I bought Valve's Orange Box a few days ago and included was a game called Portal. Great game. Best 3 hours ever (Short, yeah) but the best part was the credits. Never have I ever sat through credits. Not through movies, tv shows, or games. Never. Until I finished Portal. I thought, "Ah, done. Now it's time to skip the credits and move on to Half-Life 2 Ep: 2... Wait, what's this??"
"The ending credits song, titled "Still Alive" was sung by Ellen McLain and written by Jonathan Coulton." Best song featured in a video game evar. The credits is shown on the right side while the lyrics are played on left side.
Did you guys just play Portal too or was it just coincidence? =P
