Jittery & jerky scrolling...help!

Dec 7, 2003 9:24AM PST

All of a sudden my scrolling is jittery & jerky. I tried System Restore but it wouldn't let me click on a date two days ago. I know System Restore was discussed in the old forum, but since there is no search.....anyway, does anyone have any suggestions?
Mouse is a Logitech wireless.

Dell 8200

Joyce,

Have you tried installing the latest drivers from Logitec's website?

Or see if another mouse works without these symptoms.

Well, of course not! Why would I do something like that, except that it never crossed my mind! DUH! But I sure will, right now. Thanks David

David, what does (NT) mean? I've seen it several times and never asked.

Is your System Restore broken??
Dec 7, 2003 11:23AM PST

Are there any other dates further back that'll work?

Or you can uninstall the update from Add or Remove Programs?

The only date I can click on is todays date and last nite I could click on Sat.s date. That's it. And I went to add/remove and now I can't find the darned update! And I can't find System File Checker. Maybe I'm simply too old for computers, ya think?

I ran all three just yesterday. But I didn't do the File checker. I'll get on that.

You'll need to insert your XP CD to run SFC...
Dec 7, 2003 11:43AM PST

Then go to Start | Run: SFC /SCANNOW

But this may not solve the problem.

Also check if your System Restore is being affected by insufficient disk space.
Right-click My Computer | Properties | System Restore tab | seclect C Drive | click Settings.
See if the Disk space to use for System Restore is set to maximum.
Then in My Computer set your view to details and see how much free space is available.

Another thing you can try is boot from the Last Known Good Configuration.
On restart press F8 and in the selection menu choos the Last Known Good Config.

OK, I've printed out your message and I'll do everything you said and see what happens. Thanks David, what patience you have.

OK, I put the CD in and ran scannow. Everything was ok. Went to my pc, the disk space bar was on max. and underneath it says 12%. Then in my pc I set the view to details and it shows that I have 32.0GB free. Next on restart I pressed F8 and chose Last Known configuration. When it restarted, it still scrolls jerky. Wonder if it would do any good to uninstall and reinstall mouse. I'll try that tomorrow.
