u will have to tear into I know
I own a 1999 Cherokee that I bought wrecked(from what I could tell, it was hit on front left wheel, run into tree/pole, and then rolled) and then repaired. Although I have fixed most of the problems that plagued it, I still have one annoyence. Whenever the vehicle is in 4wd high (open center diff), and I go to shift back to 2wd, the handle pops back up and it shifts into part-time 4wd(locked center diff). I've tried to shift while parked, in neutral, and moving 2-3 mph, but its always the same problem. The only thing that seems to work is pushing the handle in while accelerating in drive and holding it, and that only works one out of every 2 or 3 tries. Is this something normal or do I have to tear into my transfer case?
