Java Problems

by Copter / December 13, 2004 9:07 PM PST

Hi, I recently upgraded to Java 1.5.0. I need to be able to run two applets at the same time, both of them Chat applets. When I minimize them and open iTunes, the music ends up being choppy. I have tried to kill of as many processes as possible, and have even tried to remove Java 5. I eventually had to reinstall it, as it was the only Java on my computer. I am running Windows XP, 512 MB RAM, and P4 2 ghz. Is there any way to solve this problem? Can anyone suggest a way to remove this Java 5 and go back to Java 4? Thanks in advance Happy

Go into task manager (ctrl-alt-del), choose the Processes tab and see the CPU-usage of every process. I think it's just a question of too much CPU for the other processes, and too little for iTunes.

If you need:
- Uninstall Java via Control Panel>Add Remove.
- Download Java 1.4.2 runtime from
(that was an easy one to find with google!).

Have you tried a different media player app like WinAmp?

Choppy music & java

I'm no techie--but had choppy music. Took every program off except music program. Could not get Java
(Web Java) off and it was using tons of space. So I reinstalled my os--xp home--just put aol security edition on, and my band in a box music program. Now it works flawlessly--at least so far. I realize your post was last year.
