Java on Windows XP

Mar 10, 2004 8:56AM PST

I had a virus on my computer and took it in to be repaired. When I got it back, there were several things I could not do. For instance, I used to be able to play games on line. Now it says that I need Java enabled. I remember when I used to go to Internet Options and there was something there that said "Enable Java" or something like that and now that is gone. I know I can download Java but, it really slows down my computer.
HELP!
Thanks

Yes, It is an HP511n. It just did not come with it. The only disk taht I got was the Works and Microsoft Money disk which neither one I use. But, I will try contacting HP and giving them my serial number and see if I can get a disk.
Thanks so much!

Microsoft and Sun Microsystems have problems getting along with each other. recently they parted in a huff and Microsoft decided to remove Java from it's current Operating Systems.

however, there is a work around.

if you can find a Virtual Machine (i.e. free from Sun), install it and THEN go back to the Microsoft support/updates webpage, Microsoft will admit to a critical update and offer to finish the installation.
