Java loads in NS7.1 but not in IE6

Aug 30, 2004 7:13AM PDT

I use this website that uses Java when loading. It won't load when I'm using my IE 6 browser but when I use my Netscape 7.1 browser, it loads just fine.

In IE 6/tools/Internet Options/Advanced, I'm sure that I've got all the correct boxes checked.

Have Windows 98 and NAV. My Java program is Java 2 Runtime Environment SE v 1.4.2_04

Since it works in Netscape, the use Netscape.

I have other websites the author locked out IE for reasons I can't fathom. Well, it's their choice.

Stew, Have You Checked This?

If Netscape is your default browser, it's possible that the Java program needs to be associated correctly.

Open the Control Panel, then double click on the "Java Plug In" icon. When that loads, click on the "Browser" tab and make sure there is a CHECK mark in BOTH Netscape and Internet Explorer. If you make any changes, click on "Apply".

Hope this helps.

I as well am having this problem. I have been through, and checked everything. Everthing loads in Netscape, but it won't load in IE 6. I don't understand it. Everything has been updated, and this problem started in the last couple of days. Please Help.

Which operating system are you using?

Which version of Java are you using?

Have you tried installing the newest Sun Java from the link below? Click on the link, then click on the "Download J2SE JRE" link below "J2SE v 1.4.2_06 JRE includes the JVM technology" heading. "Accept" the license at the next page, click "Continue", then select the "Windows Offline Installation" for the Windows platform. Once the file is downloaded to your desktop, then shut down all background programs and double click on the file to install it.

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

Once the Java program is installe, then go to the Control Panel, double click on the "Java Plug in" icon, then click on the "Browser" tab, then make sure that both "Netscape" and "Internet Explorer" are both CHECKED.

Hope this helps.
