Question

Java

by zlzpqx / April 19, 2014 5:19 AM PDT

I shall appreciate enlightenment whether installation of Java in one's computer has any direct or indirect benefits for ordinary Internet users. (Java 7 version 55 is the current version of Java.) Information in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_%28programming_language%29 did not shed light for me in the above regard.

Thanks!

No need for it.

It's just a security risk. If any app needed it you would be prompted.

Very few things use it any more

There are still a FEW apps that still use Java, but they're in a very small minority. I wouldn't install it unless I was prompted to do so. Even then I'd think twice about the app that wants to use it. It's gotten better recently, but there're still reports of security exposures.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
