Right there is where I see these fail. Either not work at all or have issues.
If the ONU does not have a bridge mode, then you have to use the Netgear as a HUB and WAP and never use it's WAN port.
I have fiber to an ONU provided by the ISP, CAT5e to WAN port on Netgear R7000, AC1300 Wi-Fi bridge to R6250 with CAT5e to this PC. Netgear firmware with latest update. Several other devices on the R7000 Wi-Fi. Everything works perfect for 24 hours, then the R7000 loses connectivity to the ONU. Router and modem resets do not work. If I connect the ISP provided router for 20 seconds, then reconnect to R7000, everything works perfect for 24 hours again. No power cycles or resets needed to ONU. Just plug in ISP router to power, remove the CAT5e cable from the R7000 WAN port, plug into ISP router, wait for lights and audible click (about 20secs), plug back into R7000 and everything works again for 24 hours. I've been doing the same procedure for a month now with no change. I have all settings matching: static IP, cloned MAC, ISP DNS, same host/router name. I believe it has something to do with the ONU. Could there be some signal the ONU checks for after 24hrs? Would a new ONU solve the issue? Could it be the ISP side checking for their provided router? The Japanese ISP (au kddi) customer service has very limited English and this issue is far too technical for them. There's just got to be a way without having to use the ISP provided router as the gateway, the interface is all Japanese. Please help. This daily routine has to go. Thanks for reading!
