- What exactly is "downloaded a hard drive to a new computer'? It sounds like something you shouldn't do.
- What exactly is "not recognise"?
- So you didn't do it the way Apple tells in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204318 ? Why not?

Obviously, whoever did what he did, didn't do this very well. Time to go back and let them fix it. Youd didn't pay for half work, did you?

itunes won't recognize ipods after getting new computer

I think the tech guy said "copied my hard drive" to the new computer. When I go into itunes and connect my ipod and try to download songs to it, my itunes stops responding and I have to shut it down via task manager. It does, I guess, recognize it but they seem not to be compatible to exchange songs. I only paid for the hardware and to put the computer together for me. He copied my hard drive and everything else works fine.

Sounds like you have to make a new plan.

Treat your new PC like a new PC. Make a new user to install iTunes to fresh and see if the PC picks up on the iPod. If not it's usually some missing motherboard driver, front panel USB issue (many don't work) etc.

I deleted and reinstalled itunes 2-3 times already to no avail. If you mean something different by "make a new user ..." let me know.

Go to "User Accounts" in Ctrl Panel
Apr 21, 2015 1:09PM PDT

In User Accounts click "Manage New Account" then click "Create a new account". Then sign on with the newly created account and install iTunes. After that connect the iPod and see if it and iTunes will work together.
`
By the way, it's OK to copy DATA from the old disk to the new on, but if you try that with APPLICATIONS, that will cause you problems as Kees suggested above. If applications were copied, you've got to restore to factory settings (per your user guide) and start over.
`
Good luck.

How to create a new user account in Windows

Add your version after that. Remember that user accounts are a basic Windows skill. Be sure you have spare Admin accounts.

iTunes recognize iPod

I found this solution to work. Try this first:
a) Get Windows to restart the drivers:
- disconnect your USB device and close ITunes
- connect your USB device
- if ITunes loads, close it.

b) File explorer:
Open File explorer and browse to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
In that folder there should be a set of files named "usbaapl64...."
right click on the one ending in "INF"
Select Install. It's very quick.
remove the USB device

c) Restart the computer.
When you login again, load ITunes before you attach your USB device.

d) If still not works, try re-install iTunes. Go into the Unstall Programs (in Control Panel) and uninstall everything that says Apple, and uninstall Bonjour. With the fresh install of iTunes, everything came back and is should work. Hope it helps.

f) If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative (http://www.reviewstown.com/itunes-alternative.html) to do the job.
