iTunes problem with Vista

Dec 25, 2007 8:21PM PST

Hi,

After using iTunes successfully for a while on my new computer, it began shutting down soon after opening, telling me "iTunes has stopped working."

The Apple message says I need to install the latest version... but I am using the latest version.

After re-installing Quicktime (after deleting all the related files I could find), then doing the same with iTunes, the problem remains. Initially the closing down happened after 5 mins or so, then it started happening straight after opening iTunes. Now it's back to it's old ways shutting down after a few minutes of playing a track. I have only included 4 tracks in the library to ensure it's not related to such a file.

I guess I have spent over 15 hours on this over the last couple of weeks in an effort to solve the problem myself based on info I can find on online forums (and not being that technical). Obviously I haven't been successful.

Any advice about a solution would be hugely appreciated (as I'd rather be doing other things with me time).

Many thanks,

Stephen

Backup and save all of your iTunes related files, scrap the program, and reinstall the iTunes+QT package.

If this does not work, direct your question to the Windows Vista forum. While iTunes is Mac software, your asking about problems you've had with Vista. I'm guessing you'd have better luck in the Vista forum where all of the other Vista users are. Just my thought.
I've used iTunes on XP, but never on Vista, as I don't own a copy of the new OS. Hope you're able to fix it.
