iTunes password for NAS server.. Arrrrgh!

Jan 18, 2010 7:15AM PST

Heeey guys,

I'm having a huge problem with itunes, and after i have been trying to deal with it for the last 3 hours, it's driving me nuts..!

I have a Qnap NAS server with build in iTunes server, works like a charm on my computer and xbox 360 - at least until tonight.. I wanted to access the server on a new laptop, I clicked the nas under shared drives, iTunes prompted for the password and accidentally I mistyped one character but had already checked the "remember password" box, and BAM - iTunes remember the WRONG password and the server won't let me in.. Everytime i click the server from the shared drive, it just load for a sec and throw me back to the main music folder on my computer, dammit..!

I have absolutely no idea of how I get iTunes to promt for pass again or how I can change/manage password..?! Why is it so hard to make that feature apple?!

So i REALLY hope some of you have the answers, I'm officially lost on this one!

Best regards

-And

PS. I have uinstalled / installed iTunes a million times now and deleted everything named itunes i the documents folder without any luck..

Did you find a solution?

***, Apple?! iTunes is probably the worst piece of $#&! software I've ever worked with.

Apple do make it easy,

with a utility called KeyChain Access.

You will find it in your Applications\Utilities folder.

Launch it, find the entry for the Qnap NAS server and iTunes, select it, Right Click & get info.

Click show password, authenticate with your login password and the password is displayed. Now delete the password.
Close KeyChain Access and get back to business

It looks KeyChain Access is a Mac OS thing.
I'm on Windows XP.

Any other ideas?

"I'm on Windows XP"

I guess saying "I'm on Windows XP" is insufficient for telling people what operating system I'm using?

when the poster name changed

Windows also has a place where passwords are stored and these can be deleted.

Not sure where it is but Start/Help will find it.
