iTunes not reading CD Drive

Jul 15, 2004 3:37PM PDT

I have iTunes 4.6.0.15 installed on a Windows XP Professional desktop. iTunes fails to recognize any Audio CD, hence I am not able to play or record my CD collection.

Windows Media Player 9 and Easy CD-DA Extractor 7 are also installed on the same desktop and they are able to read each Audio CD that is loaded into the CD drive.

Please let me know of a possible resolution for the above.

Thanks.

1. Not much was written about the host machine. Make/model, if you installed the OS, if motherboard drivers were installed, make/model/age of the CD drive and more. If iTunes offers such a feature, it may require all this and more to be in just-right condition. The drive might have to be MASTER or ??? Need more info.

2. Post this information and a repeat of the issue in the XP Forum for good feedback as well.

3. Try CDEX. Does it work?

Virtual DVD Drives interfere with Itunes import and burning
Apr 26, 2005 10:06PM PDT

I had this problem on my Packard Bell PC. For some reason the virtual DVD drives were interfering with Itunes. Open them in Windows Explorer and then right click and disable them (there were 3 on mine). All burning and importing resumed after doing this. Note - if you simply uninstall them they reappear once the computer is rebooted.
