1. Not much was written about the host machine. Make/model, if you installed the OS, if motherboard drivers were installed, make/model/age of the CD drive and more. If iTunes offers such a feature, it may require all this and more to be in just-right condition. The drive might have to be MASTER or ??? Need more info.
2. Post this information and a repeat of the issue in the XP Forum for good feedback as well.
3. Try CDEX. Does it work?

I have iTunes 4.6.0.15 installed on a Windows XP Professional desktop. iTunes fails to recognize any Audio CD, hence I am not able to play or record my CD collection.
Windows Media Player 9 and Easy CD-DA Extractor 7 are also installed on the same desktop and they are able to read each Audio CD that is loaded into the CD drive.
Please let me know of a possible resolution for the above.
